| Basketry has been developed into a fine art. Found in Tenganan, a remote village on the island of Bali, Ate (pronounced ah-tay) is a durable and beautiful grass. It’s traditionally used to weave expertly crafted baskets. This prolific creeping plant is harvested from the forest that surround the village, allowing skilled artisans to create designs that are as practical as they are attractive.
Ate is much stronger than rattan, as it's water, heat, and insect resistant. An average-size basket takes two to three weeks to make, worked on by both men and women when it's too hot or rainy to work the fields.
Our Junior Collection is perfect for on-the-go, a night on the town, or just spending a lazy day doing whatever comes to mind. Light and extremely durable, the detailed woven patterns, rich color and unique shapes, give an exotic feel to a classic accessory.
